There were two muskies registered at the WMT's Yellow Lake tournament Sunday, June 24th. The WMT's Yellow Lake competition made muskie tournament fishing history as it marked the 100th event for the WMT and the first time a muskie tournament or muskie circuit has ever hosted 100 tournaments or more. Throughout the day, a good number of muskies would be caught between 34 inches and 39 3/4 inches but on Yellow Lake, with its 40" size limit the first fish wouldn't be measured until late in the morning. At 11:12am, the team of David and Jeff Appel would score on the first muskie that measured in at 44 3/4 inches. However, it only took six minutes for the lead to change hands at 11:18am when Bob and Scott Miesbauer registered a larger muskie of 45 1/2 inches. But, after spending the rest of the day, over 4 1/2 hours trying to release the muskie, the Miesbauer's took a 10 point deduction, reducing their point tally to 35.5 points and the Appel's prevailed with the victory.

The WMT's Yellow Lake tournament paid down five places:
1st - David & Jeff Appel
2nd - Bob & Scott Miesbauer
3rd - Buzzy Schwartzbauer/Tom Rosemark
4th - Art Hancock/Bud Mallin
5th - Vern Simon/Willy Padock
